The Spine and Posture in Human Health & Disease:
A Contemporary Review of the Literature and Chiropractic BioPhysics Technique Training.

Course Objective: This course provides an integrated education for the Doctor of Chiropractic
in the Science and Art of chiropractic techniques for sagittal plane spine and posture subluxations
patterns. Emphasis is placed on normal alignment, analysis, and rehabilitation techniques for the
sagittal plane of the spine and human posture.  A survey of research material will be reviewed
supporting the utilization and efficacy of Chiropractic treatment techniques methods across a
spectrum of patient conditions.

First Hour Topic: “A Brief History of Stepping forward” – Chiropractic History with a Punch.

  Second Hour Topic: “Standing on the Shoulders of Chiropractic Giants”

Course Outline-The 1895 discovery of Chiropractic by D.D. Palmer, Davenport, Iowa,
followed by a short video. Mabel and Dave Palmer.  The roll of Mable Palmer
(wife of B.J. Palmer) in the Chiropractic profession and at the Palmer School.

  • Review of ideal and average sagittal plane models of cervical lordosis and head posture: Cervical lordosis alignment values;
  • Survey the peer-reviewed literature correlating abnormalities of cervical spine to human ailments and health disorders:Neck pain, Headache, Upper back pain, Extremity disorders and Pre-Mature Spinal Degenerative Changes.
  • Review New Randomized Trials Demonstrating Correction of Altered Cervical Lordosis and Head Posture Improves Spinal Cord Function, Pain, Disability and Range of Motion.

  • Case Presentation 2: Restoration of progressive vision loss: A pediatric case with upper cervical alignment abnormality;
  • Case Presentation 3: Three cases with Post-surgical neck pain and disability: Structural rehabilitation of post-surgical cervical spine fusions.
  • Case Presentation 4: Improvement of cervical spine subluxations resulting in resolution of chronic and debilitating Tourette’s Syndrome in two patients.
